Sleak Text Effect
So you've all seen this effect everywhere on the web. The sleak "vista" inspired shading of text, shapes, and pictures. By using simple gradation and layer blending techniques, you can can create this simply made effect.Open a new 300px by 300px image with a white background. Create a text box at the centre of the canvas and type out your desired word that will render this effect. Also, make sure the text attributes are large, bold, or thick. If you used a thinner font, the effect isn't very effective.
When the word is typed out in a dark colour and large and thick font, it should look like this:
At the top menu, go to "layer", hover at "layer style", and select "blending options". Select and edit the "gradient overlay". Once you've inputed the same settings shown below, click "ok".
On the side toolbar click the "rectangle" tool (if you can't find it click here). As you hold onto that click, a selection of shape-making choices will display from the hover. Of those choices, choose the "elliptical" or circle image. Once you've set the shape-making settings to that, draw an oval or circle over the part of the text that you want to be exposed to more light. Make sure you set the shape colour to white.
With the "layers" editor on your right-hand side, click on the "shape 1" layer and type in the following settings.
Ta-da! You've created this modern and sleak effect!
The same steps can be applied to shapes too!
