Why I Love Evanescence...

It was around mid-2003 when I stumbled upon the music video "Bring Me to Life". It was such a different sound I had ever heard and Amy's voice was so enchanting. I did some research on Evanescence and listened to their earlier material from "Origin". It was inspiring and lyrics - the lyrics reminded me of poetry and deep literature. Her lyrics could actually be anaylzed into thought-provoking terms. After learning about Amy Lee, I thought she was the most down to earth and humble musician. She wasn't like any other female musician out there, she was independent and never changed herself to boost up sales. After finally purchasing "Fallen" later that month, I listened to it non-stop. I was obsessed with Amy Lee, I was fascinated and intrigued by everything in her music - the lyrics, the way she articulated when she played the piano, and most of all her pure voice that painted across the musical canvas. I admire that fact that she puts classical elements into her music, because today I find that classical music is sometimes forgotten with all the newest trends of music being overexposed to point where some genres disappear.

Today, I find myself still mesmerized by Evanescence's powerful music. It will continue to truly influence me in everything I do.
