About Julia

Hello world,

The name's Julia. I am not going to label myself with trendy labels nor will I underline, bold and or italicize excessively. I was brought to life on the fourteenth of January in a mysterious year yet to be known. From Toronto, Canada, I design and run this site. I am a self-proclaimed feminist who is in the IB programme. I'm a very analytical and poetic person, which has its advantages in many things I do like art.

I am a product of divorced parents, something neither shocking or devistating in this day and age. As the oldest sibling, I manipulate and rule over my thirteen year old moody sister and my ten year old severe, non-verbal Autistic brother. I find that my siblings, especially my brother are more organized than myself. It's not that I'm unorganized and extremely messy, it's just that I work better mentally. I am more time organized than I am for example, bedroom organized.

Although I am an artist, in terms of my personally and passion, I am also anayltical and mathematical, which of course is totally opposite to open-minded and infinite thinking. As for my art, I find the influence coming from Surrealism and Realism. My favourite artist is Frida Kahlo. For those who are artistically challenged, it's that Mexican chick with a unibrow and moustache. Anyway, I love to paint! For me, it takes months to complete my painting projects. I am perfectionist, the word itself is an understatement. I will literally destroy works that don't "comply" to my intended vision. I know, it's horrible, but that's how I work. That definitely attributes to my obsessive compulsive disorder. My favourite mediums are acrylic and oil paint. I find that sketching is really simple, so I don't base my works on them. However, I use them to sketch out plans and ideas - you know, the intended purpose of a sketch. I've also scuplted before, I enjoyed it, but my passion for it will never be as high and adored as painting.

Classical music and playing the piano is my equally loved passion like visual arts. I love to play the piano! I can play for hours and hours, literally. Playing the piano was never an expectation for me, it was always something I loved to do. I find that music, in general, is another canvas for self-expression and limitless possibilities. My favourite composer is Bela Bartok. I obviously admire the "greats" or the well-known classical composers like Mozart, but nothing compares to my emotional attachment to Bartok's work. As for my music preference, I don't limit myself to a single genre. I listen around and take chances. However, my main musical influence would be of course the works of Evanescence and Amy Lee. If you want a detailed explanation to why I "chose" Evanescence, click here.

Here's a list of other musicians I highly admire (in no particular order):
  • Nightwish
  • Arcade Fire
  • Snow Patrol
  • Bedouin Soundclash
  • Tori Amos
  • Bjork
  • Alicia Keys
  • Mary J. Blige
  • Norah Jones
  • Smashing Pumpkins
  • City and Colour

    Favourite songs(slightly in particular order):
  • Lacrymosa - Evanescence
  • Whisper - Evanescence
  • Lithium - Evanescence
  • Missing - Evanescence
  • Dark Chest of Wonders - Nightwish
  • Breathe Me - Sia
  • Romeo & Juliet - Dire Straits
  • Tessellate - Tokyo Police Club
  • Sleeping Sickness - City and Colour

As pictured aboved, Rocky, my beagle, is a focused yet lazy dog. I honestly think that he was cat in his past life. All he does is sleep and lick himself. Anyway, I can't imagine my life without this special addition to my family.
