How to Install FanUpdate

FanUpdate is a lightweight and simple blogging script with single-user use. Unlike CuteNews, FanUpdate is much more safe and reliable. Also, FanUpdate uses a MySQL database.

What You'll Need Before Downloading

MySQL account (Click here to learn how to create one)

A Zip File Utility Program (Click here to download a WinZip Trial)

FTP Server Cilent (Click to here to download Filezilla)

Notepad ++ (to edit .php files)(Click here to download)

To create a folder called 'fanupdate' in 'My Documents'

Download

You will need to download the lastest version of FanUpdate here. Once you have download the program 'extract' the FanUpdate files to the 'fanupdate' folder you created.

Setting Up an Account

In your newly made 'fanupdate' folder open blog_config.php in 'Notepad ++'. Find this part of the file. And edit the areas highlighted in the black boxes. Make sure that you fill the database variables correctly or else FanUpdate will not work.

Once you have finished, save the file.

Upload

Upload the entire 'fanupdate' folder onto your website's database through an FTP server. Type in: http://www.yourwebsitenamehere.com/fanupdate/install.php into the address bar and fill in the boxes. When you are finished type in http://www.yourwebsitename.com/fanupdate/, log in with the username and password you created for yourself in the admin variables.

Integration

To get FanUpdate onto your site type in: http://www.yourwebsitehere.com/fanupdate/get-code.php into the address box. Copy and paste the textarea box to your left onto your blog page. To edit the blog and comments layout go to: http://www.yourwebsitehere.com/fanupdate/templates.php.
