Download, save, or copy and paste the images in the imagepacks. If you are downloading brushes from fleurchild.com, press the thumbnail on the brushes page. A new window will open, where the imagepack will be found. Create a 'New Image', type in the dimensions of the image you will be taking the brush from. For this tutorial, we will be downloading a brush from this brush set. Its dimensions are 900px by 900px.
First, you need to create a 'New Layer' - press Shift+Ctrl+N. When a window pops up, make sure the dimensions in the new layer is 900px by 900px (or the same as image you will be taking the brush from). After, click 'Ok' to move on. Now, paste the image onto the new layer.
Next, locate the 'Layers' window on the right of the screen. If it is not already open, go to 'Windows' on the top menu and click on the last option. You you may notice, there is a 'Floating Selection' on top of 'New Layer'. In order to compress it with the new layout click the little icon of the 'Anchor' (beside the 'Trash Can' icon). To your left of the screen is another window called the 'Toolbox', select the 'Lasso' icon (the third one from the top). Draw a border around the brush, making sure you don't include the brushes.
Now, on your keyboard press CTRL+C. Lastly go to the top menu, under the option 'Edit' select 'Paste As'. From that option will open more choices, of those choices choose 'New Brush'. A new winwow should open where you can give the brush a name. Once you finished with giving it a name (or not), click 'Ok'. Your brush has been saved. To test if your brush is there, open a 'New Image' and click the 'Brush' icon in the 'Toolbox'. Then, scroll through the brush catalogue and you will find the new brush.
