Looking for way to manipulate a portrait into something more dark and Halloween worthy? This simple photomanipulation tutorial requires little time, and a lot of zooming in.

So, let's copy and paste this naturally beautiful image of Ms Amy Lee-Hartzler.

Now, we are going to work on darkening the Amy's features - more specifically areas are the eyes. On the sidebar, find the 'Burn tool'. Make sure the 'Range' is set at 'Midtone', and the 'Exposure' at '50%' at the top toolbar when the 'Burn tool' option is selected. As you are working with this tool to create more depth in the face (using a brush), be sure to work slowly so that the features do not become too burned out. The resulting image is seen below:

It's time to focus our attention into taking out the sun's glow on Amy's face. By using the 'Dodge tool', which can be found at the same place the 'Burn tool' was found, a paler complexion will be created. As well, make sure the brush size is around the same size as the cheeks so that the result doesn't look spotty. Be sure the settings in the top toolbar is the same as the one for 'Burn Tool'. Like the previous step, use a round brush, this time lighten the features around the face and hands. Another thing you can do, to intensify the dark factor is to lighten up the pupils and iris, so that it pops out around the dark circles around the eyes. Whitening the teeth will also bring a supernatural feel to the photo if you would like. The resulting image is seen below:

It's time to edit the lip colour. First, open a 'New Layer'. Using your average brush tool, change the colour into the one that is seen in the image above.

Highlight the area around the lips using a round brush.

In order to blend the lip colour onto the actual lips, refer to the 'Layer' window on your right and 'Color Burn' on 'Layer 2'. The resulting image is seen below.

You can choose to leave the image like the one above, or you can continue to bring more intensity into the photo. Just simply, copy and paste the image twice onto the same new canvas. Next, refer to the 'Layer' window to your right and change the settings on 'Layer 2' to 'Overlay'.

And you are done!
